Among the greatest snacks ever created are those that have disappeared from supermarket shelves, leaving memories and yearnings that won’t let go. From the crunchy, pizza-flavored wizardry of Keebler Pizzarias to the cheesy, peanut-buttery bliss of PB Crisps, these extinct chips and crackers possessed a flavor and texture we still yearn for. Whether limited runs or cult classics that vanished too early, these snacks need a return—or one final, glorious bite.

1. Doritos 3D (Original 1998 Version)

These three-dimensional puffed Doritos were a feature of late-’90s, early-2000s snack time. They retained the crunch of a regular Dorito with a light, hollow middle, making them even more fun to snack on. Though a new edition returned in 2020, the original possessed a flakier, lighter texture that fans still bemoan its loss.

2. Keebler Pizzarias

Keebler’s Pizzarias were crunchy pizza dough chips with a rich, cheesy, and tomato flavor. They were available in varieties such as Pepperoni and Cheese Pizza and featured an unmistakable seasoning baked right in. They fell out of favor in the ’90s without much notice, leaving those who loved their pizza-like crunch longing for them.

3. Planters Cheese Balls (Original Recipe)

Planters’ Cheese Balls were the better cheese puff—extra cheesy, ideal crunch, and cheddarly salty. Although they were re-released in 2018 briefly, many fans noticed that they didn’t quite taste the same. The original recipe had an exclusive kind of buttery richness that’s difficult to recreate.

4. Jumpin’ Jack Cheese Doritos

A Monterey Jack cheese-flavored Dorito that appeared on shelves in the early ’90s, this flavor was different from the typical nacho or ranch options. This one tasted like smooth, creamy cheese with a peppery bite and was unique. It briefly returned in 2013, but it disappeared once more.

5. PB Crisps

These peanut butter creations by Keebler were one-of-a-kind snacks—crunchy outside, with silky peanut butter within. They also existed in flavor combinations such as peanut butter and chocolate and were terrifyingly addictive. The fans have been clamoring for their resurrection for years, but Keebler is mum on the subject.

6. Guacamole Doritos

Doritos had a guacamole flavor once in the snack aisle that tasted surprisingly true to life, creamy, and spicy. They had a loyal following of fans, but somehow, they vanished after a couple of years. The web still hums with longing for their return.

7. Ritz Bits S’mores

This bite-sized snack sandwiched graham cracker, chocolate, and marshmallow filling in one tasty bite. While other s’mores-flavored snacks were too sweet, this one was perfectly balanced. It disappeared in the 2010s, and nothing has replaced it.

8. Tato Skins

Made by Keebler, these sturdy, ridged chips consisted of genuine potato skins and boasted a crunch unmatched by any. Available in Cheddar & Bacon and Sour Cream & Chives, they presented a hearty, rich flavor. While comparable offerings exist, none are quite so gratifying to the bite.

9. Sunchips Sweet & Spicy BBQ

This flavor was the ultimate oneness of sweetness, smokiness, and heat and is in the running as one of the greatest Sunchip flavors of all time. It possessed a special tang that set it apart from ordinary BBQ chips. Even with its devoted fan base, Frito-Lay took it away, leaving people who love BBQ sad.

10. Cheetos X’s & O’s

These were basically Cheetos in playful X and O shapes, but there was something about them that made them that little bit extra delicious. They tasted the same cheesy delight but with some extra crunch and a cute shape. They were popular in the early 2000s but vanished without warning.

11. Pringles Honey Mustard (Original Version)

Pringles Honey Mustard was a sweet, tangy chip with a cult following. Although a version still exists, loyal fans claim the original had a more pronounced mustard flavor. The sweet and spicy balance made it an unbeatable flavor combination.

12. Doritos Black Pepper Jack

This was a brief but memorable Doritos flavor with a strong black pepper and cheese flavor. It was just the right amount of spice without being overpowering. Its fans still miss its distinctive zesty bite and ask why it was discontinued.

13. Better Cheddars

These thin, crunchy cheese crackers were more richly cheddar-tasting than Cheez-Its or Goldfish. They were light but full of strong cheese goodness, making them extremely snackable. Although there are some off-brand duplicates, nothing compares to the original.

14. Cheez-It Twisterz

Cheez-It Twisterz were a tasty, spiral-shaped alternative to Cheez-Its in big flavor pairs such as Cheddar & More Cheddar and Hot Wings & Ranch. They were crunchier than the original Cheez-Its and even more pleasurable. They were a favorite due to their clever design and flavor combination before vanishing too quickly.

15. Bugles Hot & Spicy

Bugles tentatively tried their hand at a hot and fiery flavor, which was revolutionary. It represented the ideal combination of heat and traditional buttery Bugles crunch. Fans still request it today, but General Mills hasn’t made it happen yet.

16. Lay’s Wavy Fried Green Tomato

Launched as one of the “Do Us A Flavor” contest offerings, this Southern-style chip was surprisingly tasty. It possessed a tangy, peppery flavor that really tasted like fried green tomatoes. It’s too bad it was a limited edition, and Lay’s never released it again.

17. Pizzaria’s Pretzel Combos

Combos has come out with different pizza flavors over time, but the original Pizzarias Pretzel one boasted a definitive, tangy sauce taste that remains popular among fans. The pretzel crust provided additional crunch; hence, it was the most superior of all the Combos pizza flavors. While others have attempted to replicate the taste, none has come close to the original.

18. Grilled Cheese & Ketchup Lay’s

This strange but brilliant Lay’s flavor was a masterful balance of melted cheddar and ketchup tang. It was a throwback to childhood grilled cheese and ketchup, and somehow, it was effective. Though its novelty was undeniable, it was a limited run, and Lay’s has not yet reintroduced it.
