The LSU Tigers added a major piece to their future recruiting class Friday as four-star wide receiver Ah’Mari Stevens flipped his commitment from the Miami Hurricanes to Baton Rouge. The decision marks a significant recruiting win for LSU after months of pursuit from multiple top programs.
Stevens had originally committed to Miami in early 2025 and remained pledged to the Hurricanes for several months. However, his recent official visit to LSU proved to be a turning point in his recruitment, ultimately leading to his change of heart.
The move comes after a competitive recruiting battle that included interest from programs such as Georgia, Tennessee, and Texas. While Miami remained in the mix, LSU’s staff made a strong late impression that shifted momentum.
With Stevens now officially in the fold, LSU continues to build early momentum in its 2027 recruiting cycle under a staff focused on strengthening its offensive future.
1. LSU Visit Shifts Momentum
Stevens’ official visit to Baton Rouge played a decisive role in his commitment change. The experience left a strong impression on both him and his family, ultimately reshaping his recruitment outlook. During the process, LSU positioned itself as a program capable of maximizing his skill set. The coaching staff emphasized development, opportunity, and fit within the Tigers’ offensive system. Although multiple schools pushed aggressively to flip his commitment, LSU maintained consistent communication and steadily gained ground. That persistence ultimately separated the Tigers from the rest of the field. Miami and Stevens mutually agreed to move on from his commitment, clearing the path for his transition to LSU without further complications.
2. Production and Athletic Profile Stand Out
Stevens brings a proven track record of production across multiple high school seasons. As a junior, he recorded 23 receptions for 312 yards and a touchdown while competing alongside top-tier talent at Chaminade-Madonna Prep. His sophomore season at St. Thomas Aquinas was more productive, finishing with 44 catches for 550 yards and eight touchdowns. The progression reflects steady development as a reliable receiving threat. Now entering his senior year, Stevens is expected to play a leading role as a primary outside receiver. His combination of speed and route-running ability makes him one of the more dynamic prospects in his class. Recruiting services currently rank him among the top wide receivers nationally, with evaluations placing him inside the top 250 prospects overall and among the top players in Florida.
3. LSU Builds Early Recruiting Momentum
Stevens becomes the third commitment in LSU’s 2027 recruiting class and the program’s first wide receiver pledge. His addition strengthens an early foundation built around both offensive and defensive talent. He joins quarterback Peyton Houston and edge rusher Jaiden Bryant, forming a diverse early group for the Tigers. Houston, a highly rated quarterback prospect, has already produced impressive numbers early in his high school career. The commitment also reflects continued recruiting momentum under the LSU coaching staff, including head coach Lane Kiffin and wide receivers coach George McDonald. Their efforts have helped position LSU strongly in early-cycle recruiting battles. With a relatively deep but veteran-heavy receiver room at the college level, LSU continues to prioritize long-term depth at the position. Stevens’ commitment fits that strategy as the program looks to balance experience with future development.
