A’ja Wilson added another milestone to her already decorated WNBA career on Sunday night, surpassing 2,500 rebounds during the Las Vegas Aces’ dominant win over the Los Angeles Sparks. The achievement came as part of a strong all-around performance from the league’s reigning powerhouse.
Wilson entered the game needing just two rebounds to reach the mark, sitting at 2,498 career boards through 268 regular-season appearances. She reached the milestone early in the contest and continued to contribute in multiple areas during her 30 minutes on the floor.
By the end of the night, Wilson finished with 19 points, four rebounds, three assists, two blocks, and one steal, reinforcing her status as one of the most complete players in the league. Her presence in the paint once again proved to be a deciding factor for Las Vegas.
The Aces, meanwhile, controlled the pace of the game from start to finish, using a strong second-half surge to pull away for a 105-78 victory over Los Angeles.
1. Milestone Moment Highlights Dominance
Wilson’s 2,500-rebound milestone reflects the consistency and durability she has displayed throughout her nine-season career. Reaching the mark in just over 260 games underscores her ability to impact games on both ends of the floor. The achievement also adds to an already extensive résumé that includes multiple championships and Finals MVP honors. Wilson has been central to the Aces’ rise as a modern WNBA dynasty, anchoring both their offense and defense. Even as opponents attempt to limit her touches, Wilson continues to find ways to influence the game, whether through scoring in the post, controlling rebounds, or altering shots defensively. Her milestone performance served as another reminder of her long-term production and sustained excellence at the highest level of the league.
2. Aces Pull Away With Second-Half Surge
The game itself featured early back-and-forth momentum, but Las Vegas gradually asserted control through efficiency and defensive pressure. The Aces opened with a 29-14 first-quarter advantage, setting an early tone. Los Angeles responded in the second quarter with a 27-13 run, briefly narrowing the gap and showing resilience on both ends of the court. However, that momentum did not carry into the second half. The Aces dominated the final 20 minutes of play, outscoring the Sparks 63-37 to secure a decisive victory. Their ability to adjust defensively and convert in transition proved critical in pulling away. Shot selection and ball movement were key factors in the outcome, as Las Vegas consistently generated high-quality looks while limiting turnovers and second-chance opportunities for the Sparks.
3. Balanced Scoring Fuels Team Effort
Las Vegas showcased a balanced offensive attack, with five players finishing in double figures. That depth allowed the Aces to maintain pressure even when rotations shifted throughout the game. Jackie Young delivered a strong all-around performance with 20 points, nine assists, five rebounds, a steal, and a block, contributing heavily as a secondary playmaker. Her ability to facilitate and score helped stabilize the offense. Chennedy Carter provided a major spark off the bench with 22 points, while Chelsea Gray added 16 points and five assists to further strengthen the backcourt production. NaLyssa Smith also contributed with 12 points and six rebounds inside. Collectively, the Aces outperformed the Sparks in nearly every major statistical category, including shooting percentage, assists, and defensive disruption, finishing with 62% shooting, 28 assists, and 21 combined steals and blocks.
