Angel Reese delivered another milestone moment in what continues to become a historic WNBA career, helping the Atlanta Dream defeat the Indiana Fever 113-96 on Saturday night at State Farm Arena. The victory marked Atlanta’s second consecutive win over Indiana in the series, following another strong performance earlier in the week.

The Dream controlled the game behind a balanced offensive attack, with all five starters scoring in double figures. Rhyne Howard led Atlanta with 24 points, while Allisha Gray added 21 and Naz Hillmon contributed 19. Reese finished with 18 points and eight rebounds, while Jordin Canada provided 12 points and 12 assists to keep the offense moving.

Beyond the final score, the night belonged to Reese for a historic achievement that placed her in the WNBA record books. During the third quarter, she collected a rebound that pushed her career total to 1,000, making her the fastest player in league history to reach the mark.

Reese reached the milestone in just 79 games, surpassing the previous record held by Tina Charles, who accomplished the feat in 89 games. The achievement highlighted the impact Reese has already made as one of the league’s most productive rebounders despite being early in her professional career.

1. Reese Creates History

The historic rebound came with 4:29 remaining in the third quarter during a crucial stretch for Atlanta. The moment reflected one of Reese’s biggest strengths since entering the league: her ability to consistently create second-chance opportunities and control the glass. Reese’s rebounding ability has been one of the defining parts of her game since her college career, and that skill has translated immediately to the professional level. Her latest accomplishment showed how quickly she has established herself among the WNBA’s elite interior players. The milestone also came during one of Atlanta’s best stretches of the game. After trailing at halftime, the Dream responded with a powerful third quarter that completely changed the momentum of the matchup. Reese played a major role in that turnaround, scoring six points during a key Atlanta run that helped the team take control. Her energy on both ends of the floor helped the Dream turn a close contest into a comfortable victory.

2. Dream Take Control

Indiana entered halftime with a 59-56 advantage after an impressive shooting performance. The Fever shot efficiently throughout the opening half, connecting on 61% of their field goals and 60% of their three-point attempts. Kelsey Mitchell carried much of the early offensive load for Indiana, scoring 16 points before halftime. Caitlin Clark also provided a strong start, contributing 15 points as the Fever looked prepared to challenge Atlanta for the second straight game. However, the Dream responded with a dominant third quarter that shifted the entire direction of the matchup. Atlanta outscored Indiana 28-15 after halftime, using defensive pressure and improved execution to build separation. A key 13-0 run helped the Dream move ahead, with Reese contributing during the surge and Howard eventually extending the lead with a three-pointer. From that point forward, Atlanta controlled the pace and never gave Indiana a chance to recover.

3. Atlanta’s Rising Momentum

The Dream entered the fourth quarter with an 84-74 lead and continued expanding the advantage as the final period progressed. The offensive explosion resulted in a franchise record, as Atlanta’s 113 points became the highest-scoring performance in team history. The win improved Atlanta’s record to 11-4, placing the team among the top contenders in the league standings. The Dream are now tied with the Las Vegas Aces for the second-best record in the WNBA, trailing only the Minnesota Lynx. For Reese, the performance added another chapter to a young career already filled with attention and accomplishments. Her ability to impact games through rebounding, physical play, and consistent effort has made her one of the league’s most recognizable young stars. Atlanta’s recent success has shown the team’s potential as a serious contender. With Reese continuing to make history and the roster producing contributions across the lineup, the Dream appear positioned for a strong season ahead.
