LeBron James’ future remains one of the biggest storylines of the NBA offseason, and Golden State Warriors forward Draymond Green has made it clear that he believes the veteran superstar is still capable of changing the fortunes of any franchise. As James enters free agency following the conclusion of his tenure with the Los Angeles Lakers, speculation continues to grow about where the four-time NBA champion will play next.

Despite entering what would be his 24th NBA season at 41 years old, James continues to perform at an elite level. His longevity has few comparisons in professional basketball, and his production during the 2025-26 season has reinforced the belief that he remains a valuable contributor for any championship contender.

Green recently discussed James on his self-titled podcast, arguing that many fans underestimate the overall influence the future Hall of Famer has on an organization. According to the Warriors veteran, James’ impact stretches well beyond the basketball court and includes financial, cultural, and competitive benefits that few players in league history have been able to provide.

Those comments arrive as multiple teams are reportedly evaluating the possibility of signing James. With his next destination still undecided, Green believes whichever franchise lands the NBA legend will gain much more than an accomplished player still capable of producing at a high level.

1. Green Highlights James’ Complete Value

During his podcast discussion, Green emphasized that LeBron James’ influence cannot be measured solely through points, rebounds, or assists. While statistical production remains important, Green argued that James delivers value in areas that are often overlooked by the public.

According to Green, James has a significant economic impact wherever he plays. His presence increases national attention, attracts fans, boosts ticket demand, and elevates overall interest in a franchise. Green also suggested that James’ arrival can have positive effects beyond the arena by generating excitement throughout the surrounding community.

From a basketball standpoint, Green maintained that James continues to command extraordinary attention from opposing teams. Even at this stage of his career, defenses must dedicate considerable resources to slowing him down, creating opportunities for teammates and making every team he joins more difficult to defend.

Green also predicted that the Lakers could fully appreciate James’ value only after moving forward without him. Losing a player of his caliber, he suggested, affects an organization in numerous ways that extend beyond replacing points in the lineup.

2. Free Agency Creates Widespread Interest

James’ decision to leave the Lakers has immediately made him the most closely watched player on the free-agent market. Although no agreement has been reached, several teams have emerged as potential destinations for the four-time NBA champion.

Among the organizations frequently mentioned are the Cleveland Cavaliers, Miami Heat, and Green’s own Golden State Warriors. Each team presents a different situation, but all share one common goal: competing for an NBA championship while adding one of the greatest players in league history.

Reports surrounding James have consistently indicated that his priority remains joining a legitimate title contender. After more than two decades in the league, the veteran continues to pursue championships, making roster strength and championship potential likely to be major factors in any decision.

For Golden State, adding James would create one of the NBA’s most recognizable veteran cores alongside Stephen Curry and Draymond Green. While the Warriors would still face roster challenges, such a trio would immediately become one of the league’s most closely followed storylines.

3. Elite Production Continues at Age 41

James’ individual performance during the 2025-26 season demonstrated why interest in his services remains so high. Despite being in his 23rd NBA campaign, he continued producing at a level that many younger stars would welcome.

Across 60 regular-season games, James averaged 20.9 points, 7.2 assists, and 6.1 rebounds per game while continuing to serve as one of the league’s premier playmakers. His ability to contribute in multiple facets of the game has remained a defining characteristic throughout his remarkable career.

His production carried into the postseason, where he elevated his performance by averaging 23.2 points, 7.3 assists, and 6.7 rebounds per contest. Those numbers reinforced the idea that James can still perform effectively against elite competition when the stakes are highest.

As free agency continues, teams across the NBA will weigh both James’ on-court production and the broader influence Green described. Wherever the veteran ultimately signs, expectations will immediately rise, and the spotlight will once again follow one of basketball’s most accomplished and influential figures.
