Opponents on the court but admirers when they are not chasing the ball, NBA stars make the most of it when they get a chance to showcase such moments of sportsmanship. And this time the star of the season is Miami Heat center Bam Adebayo has managed to draw all attention toward his record-breaking night, flaunting an 83-point performance that now stands as the second-highest scoring output in NBA history.

The 28 year-old-star lighted up the scoreboard as he just surpassed Kobe Byrant’s decades old record. The remarkable points came off as the Miami Heat beat Washington Wizzards on Tuesday night.

While the feat left fans and enthusiasts in a chokehold, it has also triggered a wave of reactions from NBA greats and bigwigs alike, few of whom are legends such as LeBron James and Dwyane Wade among them, with Kevin Durant now hopping onto the bandwagon as well.

Reacting to the feat in a recent interview, Durant has fans sparking a laugh fest over social media. What was supposed to be a heated recognition of the young talent, turned out to be a humorous moment only adding to the feat hype.

1. Kevin Durant hails Adebayo’s stamina and consistency in latest reaction video

NBA on ESPN uploaded a reactionary clip of Kevin Durant hailing praises for the young star. Chipping in on the historic night, Durant said he “couldn’t believe it when I was hearing it in real time”. Conveying congratulations to Bam, Durant added he appreciates “how much work he puts in”. The veteran superstar admitted that even for someone who has witnessed countless scoring explosions, the sheer scale of Adebayo’s night felt difficult to process. The prolific scorer did not just stop at praise. Durant acknowledged the effort behind the achievement, pointing out how performances of that magnitude do not happen without relentless preparation and discipline. For the seasoned NBA icon, Adebayo’s night was not only about numbers but also about the grind behind them, having studied the stats sheet. “I looked at the stat sheet, and it’s pretty crazy, 40 shots, 40 free throws, 20 threes. That takes a lot of stamina, man,” said Kevin Durant approving off the stats. A feat of such scale “takes a lot of energy to not only go out there and put those shots up, but also make them,” added the Gold medal champion while reflecting on the unbelievable workload behind the performance. The accomplished forward also highlighted the historic scale of the night. “To set the record to surpass Kobe Bryant as the second-highest scorer in the history of the game,” he said, emphasizing how rare such a moment is even in a league filled with elite talents.

2. Congratulations are in order and NBA elites continue to pour in their reactions

Bro what?” wrote the sharp-shooting Jalen Brunson, reacting to the surreal stat line from Bam Adebayo. The short and precise message from the Knicks guard said what half the league was already thinking as the numbers started circulating online. Brunson’s reaction too has quickly gone viral among fans, mostly because it felt so relatable. Fitting to the rhythm of the night perfectly “Bam Bam Bam,” posted the legendary LeBron James, reacting to the monster night from Bam Adebayo. The three-word post from the Lakers icon too garnered few laughs as celebratory drumroll echoing across social media.Following it was Cavaliers guard Donova Mitchell who hilariously tweeted to have Bam slowdown, and many more adding into the night’s celebration. A few reactions carried their own twist. Damian Lillard joked, “I taught that boy everything he knows,” while Kelly Oubre Jr. admitted he was “kind of salty” that the mark surpassed Kobe Bryant. Coaches and stars chimed in too, with JJ Redick calling the closing minutes “a different type of basketball,” and Ime Udoka noting the stat line before adding with a pause, “And the Washington Wizards.”

3. NBA star and girlfriend to the star of the night A’ja Wilson was almost in tears, revealed BAM

Above all the reactions around the league, the one that seemed to matter most to Bam Adebayo came from someone sitting right beside him. At the podium next to A’ja Wilson, the Heat center shared a lighter moment while reflecting on the night. “She was complaining about how I got my 10,000 points and how she wanted me to wait,” Adebayo said, referring to the milestone game she missed earlier in the week. “So to have 83 the first game she’s here is very special.” Bam also pointed to the motivation she brings behind the scenes. “The behind-the-scenes, the workouts and the conversations are very motivating,” Adebayo said. He further went onto add how he looks upto her and gets “inspired everyday by that.” The two basketball stars have been dating since 2024 and have quickly become one of the sport’s most talked-about couples. By all accounts the relationship is going strong, with both continuing to support each other’s careers across the NBA and WNBA.
