The Green Bay Packers continue to build around Jordan Love, whose development remains central to the franchise’s hopes of returning to championship contention. Entering the 2026 season, expectations are growing for a quarterback who has steadily established himself as one of the NFL’s more reliable starters.
Love’s performance in 2025 offered several encouraging signs, particularly in an area that had previously drawn criticism. While discussions surrounding elite quarterbacks often focus on passing yards and touchdown totals, Love distinguished himself through his ability to protect the football.
That efficiency has not gone unnoticed. Analysts and former players have increasingly pointed to Love’s decision-making as evidence that he belongs in conversations involving the league’s top quarterbacks, even if he remains overlooked in some rankings.
With Green Bay continuing to rely on a relatively young supporting cast, Love’s growth could ultimately determine how far the Packers can go this season. If his trajectory continues, the organization may have found its long-term answer under center once again.
1. A Quietly Efficient Season
According to ESPN analyst Mina Kimes, Love finished the 2025 campaign with the fifth-lowest interception rate among full-time NFL starting quarterbacks. The statistic stands out given the perception that turnovers have occasionally been a concern throughout his career.
Love completed 291 of 439 passes last season, good for a 66.3 percent completion rate. He also threw for 23 touchdowns while committing just six interceptions, demonstrating a level of consistency that compared favorably with many of his peers.
Those numbers become even more notable when placed alongside some of the league’s biggest names. Kimes observed that Love’s interception rate was lower than that of eight quarterbacks who were included in ESPN’s recent top-10 rankings.
For Green Bay, the statistic serves as further validation of Love’s development. Quarterbacks who consistently protect the football often give their teams a chance to win, and the Packers benefited from that reliability throughout the 2025 season.
2. Recognition Still Lags Behind
Despite his production, Love was not included among ESPN’s top 10 quarterbacks in a survey conducted among scouts, coaches, and executives. Instead, he received honorable mention alongside several other established and emerging signal-callers.
The omission surprised Kimes, who questioned whether public perception has kept pace with Love’s on-field performance. She noted that many of the traditional metrics associated with quarterback success place him among the NFL’s top performers.
Beyond the numbers, Kimes praised Love’s physical abilities and command of the position. She described him as an aggressive and talented passer capable of making throws to every level of the field, qualities that have become increasingly evident over the past two seasons.
Love’s supporters believe his impact extends beyond individual statistics. Quarterbacks are often evaluated by their ability to elevate teammates, and many within the organization feel he has consistently done so as Green Bay continues developing its young offensive core.
3. Confidence Inside and Outside Green Bay
Love’s standing among his peers appears stronger than some rankings might suggest. Dallas Cowboys star Micah Parsons recently expressed surprise over Love’s placement in the NFL’s player rankings, arguing that far fewer than 71 players are better than the Packers quarterback.
Such endorsements reflect the respect Love has earned throughout the league. While accolades and lists generate discussion during the offseason, they rarely influence how players are viewed inside locker rooms.
Meanwhile, the quarterbacks who did earn top-10 recognition included Josh Allen, Patrick Mahomes, Joe Burrow, Lamar Jackson, Matthew Stafford, and several other established stars. Love remains just outside that group, at least in the eyes of league evaluators.
For Green Bay, however, the focus is less on rankings and more on results. The Packers are entering another season with confidence in their quarterback, believing his continued growth can help position the franchise among the NFC’s contenders. If Love maintains his efficiency while taking another step forward statistically, the conversation surrounding his place among the NFL’s elite may look very different by year’s end.
