Texas A&M football is already adjusting to roster changes following its 10-3 loss to Miami in the College Football Playoff, and star wideout KC Concepcion has become the latest departure. Rather than re-enter the transfer portal, Concepcion declared for the NFL Draft, as confirmed Monday by Hayes Fawcett of On3/Rivals.

Concepcion’s decision ends his lone season in College Station, where he transferred from North Carolina State after a prolific ACC career. Despite being new to the Aggies’ system, he quickly became one of the team’s most reliable offensive weapons under head coach Mike Elko and quarterback Marcel Reed.

During his single campaign at Texas A&M, Concepcion caught 61 passes for 919 yards and nine touchdowns, providing immediate impact as both a deep threat and a versatile slot receiver. His ability to gain yards after the catch and stretch defenses made him a key figure in the Aggies’ offense throughout the season.

The announcement comes shortly after teammate Will Lee III declared for the NFL Draft, highlighting a wave of early departures from Mike Elko’s squad. Concepcion’s move underscores the growing talent pipeline from Texas A&M to the professional level.

1. Immediate Impact at Texas A&M

Concepcion quickly established himself as a go-to target for quarterback Marcel Reed. In the season opener against Texas-San Antonio, he recorded three receptions for 72 yards, averaging 24 yards per catch. His explosive playmaking set the tone for the Aggies’ offensive approach. The following week, he totaled six catches for 73 yards and two touchdowns against Utah State, demonstrating his ability to find the end zone and contribute in critical moments. Concepcion’s versatility allowed him to line up both in the slot and outside, creating matchup problems for opposing defenses. His standout performances continued against major programs. Against Notre Dame, he averaged 20.5 yards per catch, showcasing his deep-threat ability. The junior also recorded seven receptions for 113 yards in a pivotal win over Auburn, helping cement his role as a clutch performer. Concepcion capped his season with a 158-yard game against South Carolina on Nov. 15, marking his second 100-yard performance. Throughout the season, he consistently produced big plays, giving Texas A&M a dynamic offensive option in his lone campaign.

2. Season Highlights and Statistics

Over 12 games with the Aggies, Concepcion accumulated 61 receptions for 919 yards and nine touchdowns. His production was particularly notable in games where he was a primary offensive target, demonstrating consistency and explosiveness. Concepcion’s ability to gain yards after the catch and create separation off the line of scrimmage stood out to scouts and analysts. His quick release and agility made him a difficult matchup for defensive backs, particularly in the slot. Despite a strong season, his final game against Miami was a challenge. He was limited to four catches for 33 yards, averaging just 8.3 yards per reception. Still, his overall body of work this season positions him as a legitimate NFL prospect. Beyond the stat sheet, Concepcion’s influence extended to leadership and energy in the Aggies’ locker room. His professionalism and immediate integration into the team helped stabilize the passing game and support Texas A&M’s offensive scheme.

3. NFL Draft Outlook

Concepcion’s decision to forgo another year in college positions him for early attention in the NFL Draft. Scouts will focus on his quickness off the line, route-running ability, and effectiveness after the catch as key attributes for the professional level. His experience facing Power Five competition, including Notre Dame, Auburn, and South Carolina, provides evaluators with ample tape against high-caliber opponents. This exposure should bolster his draft profile and highlight his readiness for the next level. The 5-foot-11 receiver’s combination of speed, agility, and hands makes him a versatile option for NFL teams seeking slot and deep-threat capability. Analysts predict that his skill set could translate immediately into a professional offensive scheme. Concepcion joins a growing list of Texas A&M players entering the NFL Draft, continuing the program’s trend of producing top-tier professional talent. His lone season at College Station leaves a lasting impression and sets the stage for the next phase of his career.
