The New York Knicks continued their impressive postseason run Wednesday night, defeating the Philadelphia 76ers 108-102 at Madison Square Garden to grab a 2-0 lead in their Eastern Conference semifinal series. Powered by another composed performance from Jalen Brunson and strong contributions across the lineup, New York once again found answers whenever Philadelphia threatened to take momentum.

After dominating Game 1, the Knicks faced a far more competitive challenge in the second matchup. The 76ers responded with improved defensive energy and more balanced scoring, but the absence of Joel Embiid remained difficult to overcome against one of the NBA’s deepest and most physical teams.

Philadelphia received strong offensive performances from Tyrese Maxey, Paul George, and Kelly Oubre Jr., keeping the game within reach deep into the fourth quarter. Still, the Knicks consistently executed in critical possessions, showing the poise that has defined much of their playoff campaign.

With the series now shifting to Philadelphia, the pressure has quickly intensified for the 76ers. A Game 3 loss would place them in an overwhelming 3-0 deficit, while the Knicks are now positioned to move one step closer to the Eastern Conference Finals.

1. Brunson Leads Another Balanced Knicks Attack

Jalen Brunson once again served as the centerpiece of New York’s offense, finishing with 26 points, six assists, one rebound, and a steal in 41 minutes. Although his shooting efficiency was not at its peak, Brunson controlled the pace of the game and delivered several timely baskets during critical stretches. The Knicks also received another outstanding performance from OG Anunoby, who scored 24 points while shooting efficiently from the field. Anunoby’s two-way presence continued to stand out, as he consistently pressured Philadelphia defensively while remaining a reliable scoring option on the perimeter. Mikal Bridges added another major contribution with 24 points, five rebounds, and four steals. His activity on defense repeatedly disrupted Philadelphia’s rhythm, and his ability to create offense in transition helped New York maintain separation during key moments in the second half. Karl-Anthony Towns rounded out the Knicks’ balanced effort with 20 points, 10 rebounds, and seven assists. His versatility created matchup problems throughout the game, allowing New York to stretch Philadelphia’s defense while maintaining strong interior production.

2. 76ers Show Fight Despite Embiid’s Absence

While the loss placed Philadelphia in a difficult position, the 76ers delivered a much stronger effort compared to their lopsided defeat in Game 1. Nick Nurse’s team competed with greater urgency and managed to keep the contest close until the closing minutes. Tyrese Maxey once again led Philadelphia offensively, finishing with 26 points and providing much of the team’s late-game scoring. His speed and aggressive attacking style consistently challenged New York’s defense and helped prevent the game from slipping away early. Veteran forward Paul George contributed 19 points and offered stability on both ends of the floor. Kelly Oubre Jr. also scored 19 points, giving the 76ers another dependable offensive option while bringing energy throughout the night. Still, the missing presence of Joel Embiid remained impossible to ignore. Without their dominant interior anchor, Philadelphia struggled to consistently protect the rim and control rebounds against a Knicks team that thrives on physicality and second-chance opportunities.

3. Knicks Eye Commanding Series Advantage

The Knicks now enter Game 3 with a significant opportunity to take full control of the series. Historically, teams that build a 3-0 lead in NBA playoff series almost always advance, making Friday’s matchup in Philadelphia especially important for both teams. New York’s confidence continues to grow with each postseason victory. Beyond Brunson’s leadership, the Knicks have demonstrated depth, defensive toughness, and the ability to win games in multiple ways. Their balanced roster has become one of the biggest strengths of their playoff run. For Philadelphia, the challenge is now both physical and mental. The 76ers must find a way to defend more consistently while also generating enough offense to match New York’s relentless pace. The pressure surrounding Embiid’s status will only intensify as the series progresses. The Knicks, meanwhile, appear increasingly comfortable in the spotlight. With momentum firmly on their side and contributions coming from nearly every part of the roster, New York is now only one road victory away from placing a near-lock on a trip to the Eastern Conference Finals.
