The Alabama Crimson Tide were dealt an early setback during Saturday’s “A-Game” scrimmage when wide receiver Noah Rogers went down with a left foot injury. The incident occurred after an incomplete pass early in the session, immediately shifting attention away from the scrimmage itself.
Rogers was unable to put weight on the injured foot and required assistance from team staff before being taken off the field. He was later carted to the locker room with his foot stabilized in a protective brace.
The injury comes at an inopportune time for Alabama, which is trying to build continuity at the receiver position heading into the 2026 season. Rogers had been expected to play a key role in the offensive rotation.
Head coach Kalen DeBoer acknowledged the situation after the scrimmage but emphasized that further medical evaluation would determine the next steps for the wideout.
1. Medical Evaluation Pending
Following the scrimmage, Alabama head coach Kalen DeBoer confirmed that Rogers will undergo further testing to determine the severity of the injury. Initial assessments did not provide a clear timeline for recovery. DeBoer noted that the program would rely on MRI results and additional evaluations before making any conclusions about Rogers’ availability. The focus, he said, is on gathering accurate information rather than speculation. The coach described the situation as unfortunate, emphasizing that injuries are an unavoidable part of spring football. However, he did not rule out the possibility of extended recovery time depending on results. For now, Rogers’ status remains uncertain as Alabama works through its spring and summer development phases.
2. Rogers’ Role And Background
Rogers transferred to Alabama after two seasons with the NC State Wolfpack, bringing with him a reputation as a productive and versatile receiver. In the 2025 season, he recorded 33 receptions for 441 yards and two touchdowns across 11 games. He entered the transfer portal as one of the more highly regarded receivers available, earning a four-star designation and strong national ranking at his position. His addition was seen as a meaningful boost to Alabama’s passing game. At NC State, Rogers demonstrated the ability to contribute both as a possession receiver and as a downfield threat. His consistency made him an appealing target for programs seeking immediate offensive impact. His move to Alabama was viewed as part of the program’s broader effort to reload its receiving corps with experienced talent.
3. Alabama’s Broader Outlook Under DeBoer
The injury comes as DeBoer continues to shape the Crimson Tide program in the post-Nick Saban era. In his second season, he has guided Alabama to a 20–8 overall record while working to maintain the program’s national standard. Last season marked progress for the Crimson Tide, as they finished 11–4 with a strong 7–1 mark in SEC play. The team also reached the College Football Playoff quarterfinals before falling to eventual champion Indiana. Despite signs of improvement, Alabama is still searching for a return to championship contention. Depth at key positions like wide receiver remains an important factor in that pursuit. Rogers’ injury adds another variable to a critical offseason, as the program continues to evaluate its roster ahead of the 2026 campaign.
