An X post has pushed Cooper DeJean into the gossip cycle again. This time the dating rumors are linking the Eagles defensive back with Dallas Cowboys cheerleader Abby Summers. However, the relationship itself is not confirmed as of now.

Reportedly, DeJean and Summers were seen together at an Iowa-Illinois March Madness game. DeJean is already one of the team’s most recognizable young faces after a rapid rise that included a Super Bowl moment and a first-team All-Pro nod in 2025.

Summers, meanwhile, sits inside one of the NFL’s most visible pop-culture ecosystems as a Dallas Cowboys Cheerleader and a cast-linked figure in the broader “America’s Sweethearts” universe around the squad. It is Eagles-Cowboys adjacency, one of the obvious rivals, that has led the story to go viral on social media.

Earlier this year, DeJean was the subject of dating buzz involving Nikki Garcia, better known as Nikki Bella. DeJean has already become the kind of young athlete whose private life now travels as readily as his on-field resume.

1. All-Pro Football Star Gave Heart To Pop-Culture Figure?

Eagles star meets Cowboys cheerleader, cue the rivalry jokes. Right now, though, there is a large difference between “sparked rumors” and “confirmed dating,” and the available reporting only clearly supports the former. Summers’ public-facing identity is already bigger than “anonymous cheerleader.” Not only is she associated with the Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders, but she is also a part of Ohio State’s dance program. She also boasts a growing social-media presence, while her Instagram bio also describes her as a co-owner and founder of Colab Collective. DeJean, on the other hand, enters the story from a very different public position. He is known first for his football career, having quickly emerged as one of the Eagles’ most promising young defensive backs. His rise in Philadelphia has given him a much larger NFL platform, which naturally brings increased attention to his off-field life as well. DeJean is being viewed through the lens of his status as an Eagles player, while Summers is being viewed through her visibility as a Cowboys cheerleader and public-facing personality. As a result, the rumor has combined two recognizable NFL-adjacent figures, even though there is still no confirmed relationship attached to the story.

2. Cooper DeJean and Abby Summers Come From Different Yet Intertwined Worlds

DeJean’s path into the spotlight has been unusually fast. After starring at Iowa, he was drafted by Philadelphia in the second round in 2024, helped the Eagles win Super Bowl LIX as a rookie, and by 2025 had added first-team All-Pro and Pro Bowl honors. He is currently ranked No. 60 in the NFL’s Top 100 Players of 2025, which is a remarkable place for a player still so early in his career. Across his first two NFL seasons, DeJean has 144 total tackles, 22 passes defensed and two interceptions, according to his career totals. His 2025 season includes 64 solo tackles, two interceptions and 16 pass breakups that year alone. PFF also lists him with a 78.2 overall defensive grade for 2025, seventh among 114 qualified cornerbacks. Those are great numbers for the promising young-player. An Eagles defender being linked to a Cowboys cheerleader is the sort of setup that is inviting endless punch lines from both fan bases. That dynamic gives the rumor a second life beyond curiosity. It has become meme material. Only time will tell how far their relationship grows.

For DeJean, the more meaningful storyline heading into 2026 is where his role goes from here after a breakout 2025 season. Last season, he was among the league’s more productive young defensive backs. That kind of production has moved him from promising rookie-story territory into a much more important category for Philadelphia, i.e., a defender the Eagles can build around in the secondary. The Eagles appear to be entering the new season with continuity on defense but some deliberate retooling around the roster. Vic Fangio is back to run the defense, which gives Philadelphia a strong degree of schematic stability, and that should help players like DeJean continue developing inside a familiar system. The broader defensive picture, though, is not static, with the Eagles continuing to add secondary help and depth pieces during free agency. The Eagles have already made moves that suggest they want more competition and flexibility rather than standing pat. Their 2026 free-agency additions include cornerbacks Riq Woolen and Jonathan Jones, both of whom give Philadelphia more options on the back end. That does not lessen DeJean’s importance. It only points to a broader plan of keeping the secondary deeper and more adaptable over the course of a long season. The roster work has not been limited to defense, though. Philadelphia has also focused on preserving infrastructure around Jalen Hurts, re-signing veteran tackle Fred Johnson and adding wide receiver Elijah Moore, while Hollywood Brown is also among the notable additions. The Eagles are trying to stay aggressive rather than simply protect last year’s core, with the offense getting more depth and speed while the defense maintains its structural backbone. The upcoming season will determine whether DeJean can take another step while the Eagles try to keep themselves in the top tier of the conference. Only time will tell.
