The Los Angeles Dodgers received encouraging news regarding one of their most important offensive players as outfielder Teoscar Hernandez moves closer to returning from the injured list. Manager Dave Roberts provided an update before the team’s series opener against the Baltimore Orioles, confirming that Hernandez is progressing through the final stages of his recovery.
Hernandez has been sidelined since May 29 because of a left hamstring strain, but his rehabilitation has continued without major setbacks. After completing a simulated game on Thursday, the veteran outfielder was cleared to begin facing live competition in a Minor League rehab assignment.
The Dodgers have not yet determined where Hernandez will begin his rehab games, though Triple-A Oklahoma City and Single-A Ontario are both possibilities. A higher-level assignment appears likely because it would allow Hernandez to face more advanced pitching while rebuilding his timing at the plate.
